Discover Southeast Texas

TRANSPORTATION

Interstates and Highways
Located between Houston, Texas and Lake Charles Louisiana, Hardin, Jefferson and Orange Counties are a convenient hub for regional, national and worldwide transportation. Interstate 10 and US Highways 69, 96 and 287, provide access to markets throughout the United States and connections to global commerce.

Rail
Southeast Texas is home to three major commercial rail carriers. Union Pacific, Kansas City Southern and Burlington Northern Santa Fe all operate in the regional market. Additionally, Amtrak serves Southeast Texas residents via the Sunset Limited service.

Waterways
Few regions in the country have as extensive a network of waterways as Southeast Texas. Three major ports, two river authorities and a navigation district provide access to national and international markets by way of barge and deep sea vessels. The Sabine Neches Waterway recently received congressional approval to deepen and widen the channel. Doing so will open up the local ports to increased travel and tonnage.

Airport
The Jack Brooks Regional Airport provides air service to the Southeast Texas market via American Airlines. American flies up to four flights per day direct to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport where passengers are able to connect to anywhere in the world. Jack Brooks Regional Airport is conveniently located in the heart of Jefferson County and provides free parking and immediate access to terminal entry.
