There are seven economic development companies located throughout the three county region. Each is dedicated to helping you select the ideal location in Southeast Texas to locate your business. Small Business Development Center
  The Lamar University Small Business Development Center can connect your business to the resources and tools that you need to succeed. Through network programs the SBDC can assist you in selling to the government, doing business internationally and commercializing your technology.

The Lamar University SBDC provides FREE one-on-one consulting services and affordable training seminars to assist businesses with management, marketing, finance and operational issues. Workforce Solutions
The Texas Workforce Commission provides the workforce development component of the Governor's economic development strategy and provides workforce development services to employers and job seekers. The major functions of TWC are workforce development, support services including child care for targeted populations participating in workforce training, and administering the UI benefits program. Workforce development includes the oversight and support of an employer-driven, integrated system that consolidates employment, job training and work-related services including the regulation of career schools.

SBAlliance Capital
SBAlliance Capital is a Certified Development Company that administers small business loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration's SBA 504 Program. 504 eligible projects include the renovation, construction or acquisition of fixed assets including real estate, furniture fixtures and equipment. Eligible loan values range from $100,000 to $4,000,000 relative to the project.

The program was developed to assist for profit small businesses, classified so under SBA standards, acquire financing for projects otherwise ineligible for 100% bank financing. SBA loans require a third party lending partner and allow the borrower to finance their project for 20 years on 40% of the loan's value. Eligible borrowers could qualify for as little as 10% down with SBA interest rates historically lower than traditional financing.
